Fees
$40 per hour, for every course and every level
A single rate applies to all instruction. There is no registration fee, no package to purchase in advance, and no agreement to sign.
First session
No risk
A full hour at no risk. If the session does not prove useful, the matter ends there, and nothing is owed.
Subsequent sessions
$40
Per hour. The rate does not vary by course, by level, or by whether the session is held in person or online.
The reasoning behind the rate
Agencies and credentialed private tutors in Collin County commonly charge well above this figure. I am a student rather than an agency, with no overhead to recover and no intermediary taking a share. I would rather set a fee a family can sustain across an entire semester than one they can afford for three weeks.
Offering the first hour at no risk follows from the same principle. No family should have to commit money if the arrangement doesn’t work.
What the fee includes
Preparation in advance of each session, planned around the student’s current coursework and forthcoming assessments; all practice material; and answers to brief questions by text or email between sessions at no additional cost.
Scheduling and cancellation
Most students hold a fixed weekly appointment. Others book only in advance of examinations, which is equally workable. Sessions may be moved or cancelled as circumstances require, with reasonable notice so that the time can be offered to another student.
The first session is offered at no risk
